Walking our Way Through History

Meet the Partners

The project involves six partners from four countries.

Fridaskolan i Göteborg

School for children aged 6-16

Gothenburg, Sweden

The school is part of the Fridaskolan school consortium

The Fridaskolan school in Gothenburg is part of the Fridaskolan school consortium, consisting of five independently run preschools, compulsory schools as well as one upper secondary school providing education for children and adolescents aged 6-19. The Fridaskolan school in Gothenburg opened in the autumn 2014. It is a compulsory school for children aged 6-16 and has approx. 600 pupils. There is also a preschool and after school activities organised on the premises. The classrooms are all given its own character and “atmosphere”. The schools’ settings, with a surrounding park, provide a good outdoor environment too. Since we do not have a given area where the pupils come from and thus cannot provide a school bus service, we have to aim at maintaining a continuous high quality teaching. We have to be “better” than our neighbouring schools. There are no fees and the schools are financed mainly through public money, i.e. the school capitation allowance that comes from the State/the Municipality, for each pupil who chooses to attend a Fridaskolan school.

Participating in European projects since 2008

We have been participating in European projects since 2008 and therefore everyone in our school understands the added value of European projects. Through these projects, our school has received training in inter-cultural teaching, early school leaving and teaching mixed ability classes. Furthermore, two of our teachers are certified e-learning developers, and many others have participated in previous European projects. Our technical skills in addition to our skills in working at an international/ inter-cultural level and in organizing, implementing and managing relevant activities will be an asset for this project. Moreover, the school implemented an Erasmus+ KA1 project in order to train its staff on the use of ICT in class and inclusive education.

Centrul Scolar pentru Educatie Incluziva ``Miron Ionescu``

School for children with special needs

Cluz-Napoca, Romania

Primary and secondary special school that caters for students with light and moderate learning difficulties

There are also a few classes for students with severe mental and physical disabilities. Although we are a secondary school, students with severe disabilities can remain into our
school in order to complete their compulsory education, in specially designed classes, with an adapted curriculum. Our school caters for students from the City of Cluj and also for students from the rural area surrounding the city. The school was established in 1993, as a second special school in the city as the number of students with disabilities increased. All staff (100 teachers and specialists) is fully qualified to work with children with disabilities. There are special education teacher, speech therapists, two psychologists and two special gym teachers. There is an infirmary and a dentist office in the school, providing medical care for our students.
For many years now we are interested in European Projects and therefore we were part of such projects since 2006. We had many Comenius and now Erasmus+ partnerships throughout the years as we realized the importance of the international cooperation for our school.
As we are all specialized in educating students with disabilities we are eager to continue improving our work, our teaching style and abilities, to produce useful tools for other people and our knowledge on what’s new and effective in our work. We strongly believe that the Comenius and Erasmus+ partnerships we had in the past years were effective and useful for our school and our communities and produced positive improvements in our organization.
